Doha Film Institute Announces New Internship Programmes to Attract Local Talent

Doha, Qatar, March 31, 2013: Have you ever wanted to be part of a fast-paced growing global industry that centers itself on culture and creativity? If so, this could be your opportunity to get a glimpse of a career in the film and creative industries. As Doha Film Institute (DFI) gears up for its presence at the sixth annual Qatar Career Fair from 1st – 6th April, ambitious and career-focused individuals will get the opportunity to apply for an invaluable internship, helping them get a first hand experience of the industry and make better informed career choices.

DFI will be rolling out three internship programmes, Dedicated Internships, Rotational Internships and Shadowing, which will be available to all students across a wide range of disciplines and interests including Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, Event Production, Finance, Programming, New Media/Content, Production, Sponsorship, Editorial and Translation, Design, Human Resources, Community Outreach and Legal.

The Dedicated Internships will run between 12-24 weeks with the objective to provide individuals with the opportunity to work alongside talented DFI staff and gain hands-on-experience understanding the chosen department’s operations.

The Rotational Internships will run between four and six weeks in the Spring and Summer terms (January till June) and interns will have the opportunity to spend time in two or four departments at DFI, depending on the duration of the selected programme. It will also provide candidates with a brief yet informative insight into the daily activities of each department helping to gain a broad understanding of the specified disciplines across the organisation. The Rotational Internships can also be credited if the department in question is relevant to the intern’s educational degree.

The Shadowing programme is a short term internship (six weeks) dedicated to Qatari nationals seeking careers at DFI in January, April and July. Once on board, they will have the chance to shadow department managers or heads of departments to acquire the necessary skills and experience required for that field. In addition, Volunteering opportunities will also be available across all major DFI events including Film Festivals, Year Round Screenings and Community events.

DFI’s presence at the Qatar Career fair will provide local graduates, university students, academic specialists and parent’s with information about the various internship, training, education and development opportunities available within the organisation.

The sixth annual Qatar Career Fair, part of the Qatar Foundation, runs from 1st – 6th April at the Qatar National Convention Center. The DFI Booth is located in the Education, Health and Sports hall. Our booth no is: EHS-S08.
