Synopsis

In a metropolis warped by social media and technology, a sinister group, “The Trolls”, menace the city with violent attacks and criminal acts. Enter Aqiq (30), a successful architect and philanthropist whose grandfather (70) hides a secret identity as one of “The Guardians”—an ancient order that has protected humanity from evil through the ages. Each warrior wields a magic gemstone that endows each Guardian with awesome powers. Aqiq’s life is disrupted when his beloved grandfather is hospitalised by a masked figure. The attack is cruelly broadcast live across social media, sparking a public outcry and an army of bloggers keen to investigate. Keeping vigil by his grandfather’s hospital bed, Aqiq is distraught by the attack.

Returning to his grandfather’s jewellery shop—plundered during the attack—he meets blogger Yagot Al-Hamar (28), who is investigating the story. Reluctant to get involved, Aqiq dismisses her demands and goes to his private workshop to try and distract himself with work. There, he deciphers a message from his grandfather that leads him to an old clock. Inside the clock is a pair of mysterious black agate cufflinks that he’s never seen before. Aqiq wears them, and overwhelmed with sadness, he leans onto his hands, not realising that when the cufflinks touch, their power is activated. The attacker, Hasad, is alerted of the cufflink’s location, and Aqiq is assaulted in his workshop. After a struggle, he wins, but the secret is out, and The Trolls are coming for him. Whether he likes it or not, Aqiq has been chosen to join The Guardians in their sacred mission...
