Free Screenings at Sony Open-Air Cinema

If you love stories of war, romance, aliens or children triumphing over adversity, the screenings at the Sony Open-Air Cinema promise something for you. If you prefer action and turmoil over love and romance, ‘The Battle of Algiers’ is an intimate war film that looks at the nitty-gritty of the Algerian overthrow of French colonial rule. It’s regarded as director Gillo Pontecorvo’s finest work – it won the Venice Film Festival’s Golden Lion in 1966 and ranked in ‘Empire’ magazine’s list of ‘100 Best Films of World Cinema’.The screening takes place at 8:00 PM on Thursday, 22 November.

‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ is an out-of-this-world classic that features a lovable alien, delicious Reese’s Pieces and a story of great courage, which has captivated audiences of all ages for the past 30 years. Steven Spielberg’s iconic film will screen on Thursday, 23 November at 9:00 PM and allow new and old audiences to pull up a seat and experience this timelessly charming piece of cinema.

Finally, ‘Cinema Paradiso’ captures the story of a film director who reflects on his love of cinema when he discovers that his mentor, the projectionist in the village where he grew up, has died. A powerful coming-of-age story beloved by audiences the world over, ‘Cinema Paradiso’ is the fine work of Giuseppe Tornatore and is screening on Thursday, 24 November at 8:00 PM.
