DFI Kids Access Blog: Yohana and Zaina at the ‘Till I Breathe This Life’ Red Carpet

Nov 21, 2012

Another day on the red carpet and getting a chance to interview celebrities? I’m in!

Who wouldn’t get excited at one of the most amazing parts of the Festival!
It was the one and only Bollywood Night, when the spotlight was all about the beauty of art and music in the film ‘Till I Breathe This Life’ (‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’).
We all know that the Bollywood movies are usually about singing, dancing and feeling the joy of life! However, most of all, I was very inspired about the late Yash Chopra’s five decades of working in the film industry; that’s nearly his whole life!!! I couldn’t be more amazed at his work and the effort he put into all of his Bollywood movies.

So today Zaina and I interviewed Anupam Kher, a ‘breakfast buddy’ of Chopra’s, who is also one of the most famous Bollywood actors. Eventually, we interviewed quite a lot of people and what I find most surprising is that there are a lot of the Arab directors and actors who watch and love Bollywood films!

In sum, Zaina and I had a superb and fabulous time at the red carpet! When we were packing our things to leave, someone from DTFF gave us free tickets to see ‘Till I Breathe This Life’! Luckily, Zaina, her mum, my parents and I got a ticket to watch the last Bollywood movie Yash Chopra ever made! Zaina and I got very excited and ran up to the Al Mirqab Hotel and sat on our seats with our parents. (It was a quite long day and I think we both really deserved the tickets!)

A man and a woman stood on stage and talked a bit about Yash Chopra and how hard he worked for this movie. I feel pride and great respect for Chopra; even though I never met him, the man seemed to be very wise and lovely.

Eventually, they played the movie and when Shahrukh Khan appeared on screen, everyone started clapping and so I joined in too! Zaina and I enjoyed every moment of the film. The genre was romance but there were lots of humorous scenes in the movie too. I really love how Chopra is trying to simply explain in the movie that love is great and sweet, but there are sometimes moments where it goes up and down – it’s normal though, because that’s how life really goes!

‘A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love’ – Max Muller

We can’t live without love, it surrounds us and is what makes us live! :)

I hope that everyone had a great time at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, I am hoping to see more people for the most important time of the Festival: Family Days!

It doesn’t end until 24 November, so get ready for the weekend and enjoy a family day out at Katara! You know you don’t want to miss it! Everyone will have lots of fun!

‘Till I Breathe This Life’ is an inspiring film that many of my interviewees enjoyed so very much. The previous films by Yash Chopra have touched many celebrities on the red carpet.

I recommend this film. It is an inspiring, romantic and joyful film, and will be an all time favourite of mine for the future for sure.
