Synopsis
“Lust” takes us into the lives of the inhabitants of a marginalised street in Alexandria, Egypt, before the revolution. Each character is isolated in their fierce, yet fragile dreams, including Umm Shooq, who has deserted her wealthy family to marry the man she loves. She has settled into a life of poverty when an unexpected challenge forces her to make the most difficult decision of her life.
About the Director
Khaled EL-Hagar, born in Suez, Egypt, earned a law degree in 1963. He worked as an Assistant Director with Youssef Chahine and received his degree in Film Directing at NFTS in England. He directed six award winning feature films “Little Dreams”, “Room to Rent”, “Hob El Banat”, “Mafish Gheir Keda”, “Stolen Kisses”. “EL Shooq” (Lust) won The Golden Pyramid Award for Best Film, Cairo International Film Festival and is Egypt’s Oscars ® Entry. In 2011 he directed his first TV Drama “Shoubra Square” for MIF and BBC WST.
