Indian film director, writer, and producer Mira Nair began her career in documentary filmmaking, winning awards for
So Far from India and
India Cabaret.
More recently, Nair has been acclaimed for directing features such as
Mississippi Masala,
The Perez Family,
My Own Country,
Monsoon Wedding,
Vanity Fair, and
The Namesake.
Her latest film,
Amelia, will open the Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
