First Time Director: Sophia Al-Maria
“I sort of backed into the concept for ‘The Racer'," says Sophia Al-Maria. "I'd been out just shooting on my own, hanging out with my younger siblings, looking at cell phone videos they had traded with our cousins, and thinking about what they were into.
“Then my Father suggested the junk yard and we went there together. The story didn't materialize until I sat down with the footage and it told itself. I'm hoping Doha Tribeca will have me back to help on some of their other projects.”
