Super Smash is a video game with a global cult following. In collaboration with Anime Qtr, we are now bringing this amazing phenomenon to Ajyal. So if you are a Super Smash fan, be sure to apply to participate in the tournament by filling in the form below.

Ajyal Super Smash Bros. Tournament

Who can take part?
Anyone who will be in Doha, Qatar on 2 and 3 December, 2015, and who has read and agreed to follow all the rules and regulations of the Ajyal Super Smash Bros. Tournament is eligible to apply to participate.

How Do I Enter?
Registration begins once the rules have been posted on www.dohafilminstitute.com. To sign up, please fill out the Entry Form and print the confirmation page.
Anyone over 16 is eligible to register for the game.
The deadline for receiving applications is 29 November, 2015. All applications must be received by the Doha Film Institute before the end of that day.
Remember to enter your application quickly, because the maximum number of participants we can allow is 64.

Rules and Regulations

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U:

-Game Settings:
-Mode: Stock
-Handicap: Off
-Stock Count: 2
-Time limit: 6 minutes
-Damage Ratio: 100%
-Items: Off
-Pause: Off
-All Characters Available.
-All sets are best of 3 except: Winners Semifinals, Winners Finals, Losers Quarters, Losers Semifinals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals which will be played as a best of 5.

Set Procedure:
1. Players select their characters, either player may elect to do Double Blind Character Selection.
2. Rock-paper-scissors is played to determine who strikes stages first.
3. Stages are striked until 1 stage is left to be played on and the players play the first match of the set.
4. Winning player of the preceding match bans 1 stage.
5. The losing player states his chosen stage.
6. The winning player may choose to switch characters.
7. The losing player may choose to switch characters.
8. Next match in the set is played.

Steps 4 through 8 are repeated until the set is complete.

Additional Rules:
-Gentleman’s Clause: Any stage may be played on if both players agree to it. Players may NOT agree to change the number of matches to be played.
-Port Priority: If an agreement cannot be made as to who gets what port, the players may enact a best of 1 game of Rock Paper Scissors. Winner gets their port selection, loser selects any other port.
-Pausing the game shall only be legal while either player remains upon their OWN respawn platform, and only for the purpose of summoning a tournament official or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a stock loss to the player who pauses the game. If the pause causes the opponent to lose a stock, the player who pauses forfeits 2 stocks, causing him to lose the set.
-Time Outs / Ties: The winner of a match that goes to time (time out) will be determined by stocks and percentage. When the timer hits 0:00 player with the higher stock count is the winner. If both players are tied in stocks the player with the lower percentage is the winner. In the event of a percentage tie, or a match in which both players lost their last stock simultaneously, a 1 stock tiebreaker will be played with time set to 3 minutes.

Stock sharing is allowed.

-Warm¬ups: Warm¬up periods, button checks, and “handwarmers” may not exceed 30 seconds on the game clock.
-Mii Guest A will be used for all the Mii Fighters as it is the standard height and weight.
-Controllers are your responsibility if they face a malfunction, all controllers are permissible for this tournament. If you are using a wireless controller, you are kindly asked to press the sync button to de-sync your controller from the console to avoid disruption of future matches. If you do not, this can result in a technical foul.

*Miiverse maybe played instead of Battlefield if both parties agree. **An Omega form of a stage maybe played instead of Final Destination if both parties agree.

Additional Rules:
-Stage Striking: The player who won the Rock Paper Scissors game bans 1 stage, the second player bans 2, then the first player bans 1.*
-Dave’s Rule: A player/team may not pick any stage they previously won on during the set.*
-Stage Bans: During the stage ban phase, the player who won the previous game may ban 2 stages from either the Starter or Counterpick lists.
-Self-Destruct Moves: If a match ends with the successful use of a character’s self -destruct move, the player that initiated the self-destruct move wins the match regardless of what the results screen states. Self -destruct moves only include Ganondorf’s Side ¬B, King Dedede’s Neutral¬ B, Wario’s Neutral ¬B, and Kirby’s Neutral ¬B.

*Rule/Clause can be ignored or overruled by a Gentleman’s Clause.

General Code of Conduct:

• Violence and assault are STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will not be tolerated. Any such behaviour will result in offenders being asked to leave the premises and can result in a ban from all future tournaments hosted by Qatar FIFA Players. Such actions include but are not limited to:
o Verbal abuse
o Discrimination of any sort
o Extreme disrespect to anyone
o Fighting
• We ask that interaction among players, commentators and the crowd while cheering is kept respectful. Please refrain from using foul language or insults. If this rule is broken, a member of the organisation team will issue a technical foul.
• If a player receives two technical fouls, he or she is officially disqualified from all events they have entered.
• Attendees and participants are responsible for their belongings. Anything you bring into the venue, including any personal gaming equipment (i.e. your own game consoles) is your responsibility. The organisation team cannot offer compensation for damaged or lost belongings. We kindly advise you to keep your belongings with you at all times.
• Participants caught tampering with or causing damage to any equipment will be disqualified immediately and subject to a ban from all future tournaments.
• Any issues that arise outside of these terms will be considered on a case­by­case basis, and decided on by the Qatar FIFA Players team.
