The 2015 Ajyal Youth Film Festival shines a light on the exciting world of cinema and video games, opening up new opportunities for gamers and creative thinkers. The Ajyal Pitchathon is a competition designed to provide creative individuals with the chance to develop their own game app.

Pitchathon is presented in collaboration with ICT Qatar’s Digital Incubation Centre, and takes place over the course of one day. The winner will be eligible to join the Idea Stage program of Digital Incubation Center.

The competition is structured as follows:
First round: “The Elevator Pitch” – each participant has one minute to provide an overview of their idea for a new game app to the judges.
Final round: Finalists are given five minutes to explain their concept in more detail.

Participants may use any presentation format (PowerPoint, mood board, etc.) to support their pitch.

Judges will score your game app based on:

• Strength and type of innovation
• Originality of the idea
• Creation of a new product, process or niche market
• Clear identification of technical features
• Type of development technology
• Market size and growth potential
• Potential for market success
• Feasibility of execution
• Strength of story
• Character development

Pitchathon takes place at Katara Building 18 on 4 December from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The winner will be announced on the same day.

Who can take part?

The competition is open to all willing participants who are 18 years of age or older and who will be in Doha, Qatar on 4 December, 2015, who agree to follow all the rules and regulations of the Ajyal Pitchathon 2015.

How to Register?

Registration begins once the rules and regulations have been posted on www.dohafilminstitute.com. To sign up, please fill out the entry form and print the confirmation page.
The deadline for receiving applications is 29 November, 2015. All applications must be received by Doha Film Institute before midnight on that day.

General Guidelines

• You will be judge by the creativity of your storyline and characters
• Participants must explain how and why their game app will be successful as a business
• Participants will be limited to two minutes to pitch their ideas
• Ajyal Youth Film Festival is a family-friendly event
• Please respect the local culture
• Offensive language of any kind is not allowed – no racial or sexual epithets; no profanity, etc.
• Violence is prohibited
• Winners must be present for the announcement to be eligible to win prizes

Terms and Conditions

1. The copyright in your pitch will remain with you. You hereby grant to DFI, on a free of charge (royalty-free) basis, a non-exclusive, worldwide sub-licensable license to use, copy, adapt, create derivative works, reproduce, distribute, transmit, broadcast, publicly perform, display and transmit the pitch in public places including (without limitation), on any and all DFI websites and/or social media page(s), and to disclose the pitch to relevant third parties on an as required basis. Where the pitch is submitted by more than one person, each party, jointly and severally grant the license contained herein.

2. You hereby agree to indemnify DFI, our subsidiaries, affiliates and related entities, and their respective directors, officers, agents or employees and any other third parties involved in the Pitchathon and hold each of them harmless against all actions, claims, costs, damages or expenses which may be brought against, made against or incurred by any of them as a result of or in any way connected with any (i) breach of these terms and conditions by You; (ii) breach, infringement or unauthorized use of a third party’s intellectual property rights by You; (iii) injury to or loss of property of any person caused by You; (iv) your illegal, fraudulent, reckless or negligent acts; and (v) any breach of warranty, promise or representation made by You.

General
3. You are not permitted to use the name, logos, branding, images or any other intellectual property of DFI or any DFI subsidiary, affiliate or other related entity or that of DFI’s partners without DFI’s express prior written consent, which may be withheld in DFI’s sole discretion. You acknowledge that your participation in the Pitchathon does not give rise to any right or entitlement to any intellectual property owned by DFI.

4. Governing Law. The Competition and these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the State of Qatar. You hereby agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Qatar in the case of any dispute concerning your participation in the Competition and/or arising out of these Terms and Conditions.
