Synopsis

A sewer worker's body is found inside a manhole in Mumbai. An aging folk singer is tried in court on charges of abetment of suicide, accused of performing an inflammatory song that might have incited the worker to take his life. As the trial unfolds, the personal lives of the lawyers and the judge involved in the case are observed outside the court.

About the Director

Born in Mumbai, Chaitanya Tamhane studied English Literature. He has been actively involved in theatre since 2004, and has won several awards as a playwright and director. In 2006, he wrote and directed the feature-length documentary ‘Four Step Plan’, about plagiarism in Indian cinema, as well as the short film ‘Six Strands’.
