‘Al-Johara’ and ‘Kashta’ – An Inclusive Experience

Runtime: 37 min

Working in partnership with the Translation and Interpreting Institute of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hamad bin Khalifa University,
we are once again delighted to bring the magic of cinema to everyone through our inclusive cinema screenings.

Visually impaired audiences will be able to view the film through sound alone, with audio description of those visual elements that cannot be understood through voice, music or sound effects. Deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers, as well as those who have difficulty understanding speech, will benefit from subtitles enriched with information about sound effects and music.

This year features two compelling works by local filmmakers: Nora Al-Subai’s ‘Al-Johara’ and A.J. Al Thani’s ‘Kashta’. Both films draw on traditional and contemporary elements of Qatari society and culture to tell two very different stories.

This screening is accompanied by Arabic audio description and sign-language interpretation, and enriched subtitles in both Arabic and English.
